Tardy Policy

1. Students are considered tardy if they are not in class prior to the tardy bell.  Students who are tardy will receive consequences according to the following policy (Quarterly, per class occurrence):

  • 1st - 3rd tardy  – Teacher warning (mark the unexcused tardy in Aeries)
  • 4th tardy – Teacher assigns consequence and contacts parent/guardian and documents in Aeries>Discipline “Parent Conference” (Detention Assigned)
  • 5th  tardy – Teacher referral to Administrator.   30 min detention, contact parent/guardian document in Aeries.  Additionally, counselors will meet with students and discuss improving tardy behavior/goal setting.  Should result in a U for quarter citizenship grade.
  • 9th tardy – Teacher assigns consequence and contacts parent/guardian and documents in Aeries>Discipline “Parent Conference” (Detention Assigned)
  • 10th tardy–Teacher Referral to  Administrator. 60 min detention.  Parent/guardian contact and document in Aeries (Review Tardy Policy with student) - possible loss of privileges. A parent conference may be requested.
  1. When students accumulate 20 or more total tardy occurrences across all class periods the consequences may be a combination of any of the following:
    1. Loss of extracurricular activities ( for example, dances, sports, 8th grade activities, etc…)
    2. Parent conference
    3. Referral to SRO
    4. SART Conference with contract
    5. SST
  • Tardies are tallied by quarter. Each quarter is a new start.

Tardy Sweeps:

Periodically, at the discretion of the administration, the campus will conduct a “tardy sweep,” in which all students who are not in class at the time the bell rings will report to the library for counseling and may receive a consequence.

Tips to Avoid Tardies

  2. Organize your locker EACH DAY for the things you will need
  3. Make sure you don't keep EXTRA items in your locker that create clutter
  4. Don't visit with friends during passing periods
  5. Don't walk your friends to their classes
  6. Don't wait for your friends while they are at their lockers
